4-Day Aberdare Waterfalls & Samburu Safari

Your safari, day by day.
A safari of contrasts. You spend the first night at The Ark, high in the forested Aberdares at around 7,000 ft, watching elephants and rare forest animals visit the floodlit waterhole. Then you head north to the arid savannahs of Shaba and Samburu, home to reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and beisa oryx along the Ewaso Nyiro River. Ideal for nature lovers and photographers.
Nairobi to the Aberdares
Pick-up in Nairobi and a drive through coffee and tea country to The Ark, where you watch elephants, giant forest hog, genets and, with luck, bongo and leopard at the waterhole. Overnight at The Ark.
Aberdares to Shaba
Drive north to the arid savannahs watered by the Ewaso Nyiro River, with an afternoon game drive. Overnight at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge.
Shaba to Samburu
An early-morning game drive for elephants, lions, leopards and cheetahs, then on to Samburu in the afternoon. Overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge.
Samburu to Nairobi
An early guided game drive, breakfast, then the drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon for a hotel or airport drop-off.
